Some workpieces such as sintered components tend to degas. It is therefore recommended that furnace insulation felts be protected by installing a graphite or C/C susceptor between furnace interior and insulating layer. This allows condensation of hot vapors on the susceptor wall and prevents the vapors from penetrating the insulating layer.
