The creation and development of environmentally friendly energy systems and the improved use of existing fossil energy carrier resources are among the greatest challenges facing us worldwide.

This, carbon fiber materials from the SGL Group are used to reinforce the rotor blades of wind turbines and to provide key components for fuel cells. High purity graphites and insulation materials are produced for the manufacture of polysilicium for photovoltaic solar cells. In addition, expanded graphites can also be used for highly efficient thermal storage. For energy storage and conversion we develop innovative products and solutions in our laboratory, such as materials based on carbonized sea grass for super-capacitors.
