Innovative material (C/SiC) solutions for tailor-made high-performance ballistic protection are a new development of the SGL Group. The ceramics developed for this purpose consist of matrix-reinforced carbon fibers and have already proven their extraordinary properties.

Strategic factors such as reduced weight and complex geometrically formed components offer a series of advantages in the areas of protection for military wheeled and track vehicles, helicopters and ships in comparison with conventional ballistic ceramics. Our subsidiary Hitco supplies primary and secondary structural subassemblies made from CFRP for military aerospace vehicles and compact subassemblies for rocket engine nozzles.
